As the wind blew across the vast, endless field, the extremely overgrown blades of healthy green grass and pleasant, sunshine daisies tickled the paws of dogs and other creatures as they padded across the firma. A particular, heavily furred bitch seemed giddy as the greenery kissed her white legs. The seldom, slightly stringy trees swayed in the powerful wind's gentle yet 'muscled' grasp. The great blue above stayed true to its name, an endless bright blue, cloudless. Fawn fur whipped forward against the zephyr, making the female funny looking as she pranced across this foreign pasture. Her silly and sheepish grin was accompanied by hazel eyes bright, reflecting the sun's rays.
Grasshoppers, rolley pollies, flies and an assortment of other creepy crawly bugs ate and adventured on the leaves and grass, sometimes grappling to lustrous fur as she brushed past. Snout was nosed against the occasional bare patch of ground, wet nose leaving marks in the virgin soil. This was a new land, of course, and she, not being stupid, was marking a trail. Plus, there was always the possibility of finding a friendly fellow fauna, so she was scenting the air and ground, nose pressed against it continuously.
Oh, the scents she smelled! Squirrels, flowers, mice, cow, horses, snakes, and birds just to name a few of these smells. It was mind bobbling for a dog, because there were so many fragrances, like the sweet hay or skunk stink, or even the dung of others. Aside from the smells, the sounds were a different story; birds were chirping nonstop. Squirrels could be heard nibbling and munching, snakes slithering, and racoons rummaging at this unexpected hour.
She was in the middle of the field by now. A single string bean tree was planted there, and she sat and leaned on it. The rustle of the leaves above, though, caught her attention. Flinching, she tilted her head upwards to have a look. A simple, yet very large bird was staring at her from an aerial view. Heh, she thought, slanting her cranium. Rising to her extremities, she trotted away at an easy, yet fast paced jog to elsewhere.
Elsewhere was apparently not too far away. She was near the edge now, probably a half mile away from the very end. Something in the daisies had caught her attention. A rustling reverberation rung intent in her keen ears. Eyeing the patch, she listened and stared. Something was there. A squirrel perhaps? Who knew. Twin hazel ops locked onto it, unblinking. She dared not recline, but instead just stood, still as a statue. Ugh.
EW. Sorreh. x.x Not my best, done in a hurry.
